Traditional Owners complete Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management

Three Aboriginal Traditional Owners of the Russell River catchment completed a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (CALM). The qualification provides entry-level training for working in Natural Resource Management.

Each Traditional Owner received tailored training, with selection of course units matching their interests and needs for working in the Russell River catchment and NRM. Ranging from machinery maintenance, GPS, hazard burning and weed control, each Traditional Owner was able to obtain an unrestricted Commercial Operator's Licence that enabled them to work independently in pest weed control.
